Our Building

Like a mirror of the programs of South Side Settlement, its building will always be in process, sensitive to the community's continuing explorations of what a settlement house should be. Its structure was consciously designed with open and free-flowing spaces to encourage interaction among the people using the building.

Located in the central courtyard is the IntroCenter, a sculptural staircase that is one of the largest works of art in Columbus. It is built of steel and glass which reflect the historic industries of South Columbus, and in its center is a life size bronze figure which represents the creative spirit of South Side.

At the heart of the Settlement, the IntroCenter is something to be both looked at and used - a place for celebration and contemplation - acting as stage, seating, playground, and activity center for the programs of South Side.
